/VOX Virtual is up and running

By voxvirtual

So /VOX Virtual is now up and running and open for business!  (Sound of lone, distant cricket chirping.)

I’m going to be quite frank and say that I don’t know what to expect next.  The marketing machine has yet to reveal itself here at /VOX Virtual, so I’m not expecting a huge response right off the bat.  It’s taken me long enough to just get the website (if you can really call it that) going, and I know it is not up to snuff by the standards of many students, but I’m hoping some ambitious, intelligent student will take me up on this challenge:  redesign this site!

The goal of /VOX Virtual is to present Heartland student art to the community, and I want students to be involved in all aspects of production and submission.  I started /VOX because I constantly meet students here at Heartland who either have created art (all kinds (photography, poetry, fiction, film, paintings, etc.) or are very interested in creating art.  However, after speaking with these students, I rarely get a chance to SEE their art.

I also want /VOX to be a means for students to get their feet wet in art and journal and web production.  Many students here apply to 4-year schools eventually, and often it looks very good if you have experienced a showcase and being published.  /VOX will provide that opportunity for students.

So I welcome any comments (productive and constructive, anyway) that visitors to this site have.   I’m also learning about these things myself, and I hope to see /VOX grow into a virtual space where students can present their art to fellow students, the community, and to the world.

David– congrats on the blog, voxvirtual and the beginnings of putting HCC creativity on the web. Cool beans, as they say in the entertainment world.
Let me know if I can help!
